Vamoots 33: New from Moots Bicycles

Hello Moots Vamoots 33

Moots Bicycle has recently introduced the latest Vamoots road bike – the Vamoots 33. The Vamoots 33 model draws inspiration from the six previous versions of models that have held the Vamoots name. The bike is named after County Road 33, which winds through the mountains starting from Steamboat. The Vamoots 33 is capable of handling various road surfaces, including dirt detours. It is considered a modern all-road bike.

What Did Moots Do Differently?

Moots Vamoots 33 LogoMoots has a long history with titanium.  Outside of their Express e-bike, all other Moots bikes are titanium.   For the Vamoots 33, Moots selected US-sourced straight gauge, thin-walled, 3/2.5 titanium tubing. Each tube is selected for the specific frame being built, ensuring the ride quality and durability that Moots is known for. The hollow 3D-printed non-drive side dropout and brake mount precisely align the brake rotor with the brake caliper, increasing the stiffness of the braking system. This construction method also saves weight compared to traditional methods. The Vamoots 33 incorporates 43 years of Moots’ frame-building experience into a versatile frame available at a more affordable price than the flagship Vamoots RCS or CRD.

Go Anywhere Bike with 38mm or Tire Capacity

The Moots Vamoots 33 is suitable for all types of road surfaces. With a tire capacity of up to 38 mm (measured), it can handle a wide array of road conditions. Whether you prefer riding on paved roads or want to explore dirt paths, the Vamoots 33 is a great option. Its geometry provides comfort and inspires confidence, especially on rougher sections of the route.

Your Vamoots 33 Your Way

The Vamoots 33 comes in a wide variety of stock sizes and can also be custom-built to fit a rider. Our Rider-First approach to bike sales ensures that every Vamoots 33 is tailored to the rider.

When it comes to the finish, to simplify things, Moots offers a brushed finish as the standard option.  However, they also provide a range of optional anodized finishes created in-house as well as custom paint through Black Magic. Like all Moots bikes, the level of parts customization from the factory goes well beyond the “cookie cutter” approach taken by most big bike manufacturers.  With Moots, you can start with a frame for a fully custom build or you can choose from multiple factory parts group options.   In addition to being able to select properly sized fit-related items (handlebar width, stem length, seatpost setback), Moots offers three levels of cockpit parts and various wheel choices to ensure that the Vamoots 33 you receive is perfectly suited to you.

Competitively Priced Titanium

Often cited for weld-quality and engineering excellence, the brand Moots is well-known among cyclists as a high-quality frame manufacturer. Hand-in-hand with this reputation, Moots does not make an entry-priced bicycle that is designed to compete on price with the biggest bike companies.  However, while the Vamoots 33 is a handbuilt titanium bike made in the USA, Moots was able to reduce the starting price point without sacrificing the quality of fabrication compared to their flagship models.   Like the Routt 45 gravel bike, the Vamoots 33 starts under $7500 ready to ride.  The key to creating this lower price point compared to some other Moots models is the use of straight gauge tubing instead of butted tubing.  While straight gauge tubing is slightly heavier than butted, it can add some forgiveness to the frame.  Regardless, from ride quality to price and geometry, the Vamoots 33 is targeted towards a different type of rider compared to the Vamoots RCS while remaining a Moots through and through.

Moots Vamoots 33 Ride Quality

Compared to the Vamoots RCS rider, the Vamoots 33 rider values compliance a little bit more than stiffness and snappiness. Although the Vamoots 33 rider might enjoy the occasional town line sprint, they prioritize a frame that accommodates wider tires for exploring and full-coverage fenders to keep them comfortable in case the weather turns. What are You Waiting For?

The comfort, versatility, and durability of the Vamoots 33 means it is suited for a wide array of riders.  Particularly for those looking for a pavement-oriented bike, but enjoy periodic gravel road forrays, the Vamoots 33 makes a worthy candidate.   Being a Moots, the Vamoots 33 frame will last forever and be as reliable a frame as one can buy – seeing yourself on it twenty years from now is very realistic.   All Moots titanium frames will provide the rider with years of cycling enjoyment.
