Who is it for? The Cervelo S2 is for the performance oriented rider who is looking for a value priced and proven aero road bike and who doesn’t mind trading a bit of the compliance of bikes like the R3 for the notable aerodynamic benefit.
Noteworthy: The current Cervelo S2 is the next generation of the original carbon aero road bike.
Bottom Line: The Cervelo S2 used to have a frame geometry that was long and low enough that it really fit some riders and body types much better than others. That was before the updated Cervelo S2 came out in 2014. The latest version of the Cervelo S2 offers the proven and versatile road geometry that Cervelo now uses on all of their road bikes. While the Cervelo S2 is not the most compliant riding bike or lightest in Cervelo’s line, it is undeniably aerodynamic, priced aggressively and a proven performer that offers a lot of value at its price point. If it fits you well, you would be hard pressed finding another sub $3000 complete road bike that is as slippery a package as the Cervelo S2. With the addition of aerobars, the S2 can also make a nice relaxed geometry tri bike as Cervelo offers a multi-position aero seatpost that allows for a steeper seat angle to be achieved as well.
