Burris Logistics-Fit Werx-Music Emporium mid-season cyclocross report

The cyclocross season has reached the halfway point and the Burris Logistics-Fit Werx-Music Emporium team has been busy. With over 40 starts among 8 riders, the team has numerous top-10 finishes with our sole junior rider Sam Noel  scoring a big WIN at SPA Cross on Saratoga Springs, NY.

The team recently traveled to Northampton, MA for the 22nd annual Cycle-Smart International, one of the longest running cyclocross races in the US. After that, the season continues with the West Hill Shop Cyclocross Race and Vermont State Cyclocross Championships, also in it's 22nd year. The season will begin winding down with the classic Baystate Cyclocross Race in Sterling, MA. followed by the NBX Gran Prix of Cyclocross in Warwick, RI. Some will continue to race at the New England Championships in mid-December as a final tune-up for the National Championships in Madison, Wisconsin  or Master's World Championships in Louisville, Kentucky in January.

Cyclocross racing continues to show solid growth each year. 'Cross is family friendly and as competitive (or not) as you would like to make it. Whether you are racing for the win or just getting in a good workout 'cross is a blast. Many of the venues are unique…seaside parks, working farms. There are always food vendors and, more often than not, the traditional beer garden. Think of it as bike racing's version of a local 5k. The intimacy of the venues, relatively low entry fees, and spectator friendly nature are attracting new riders in many age groups and categories. Junior fields and women's amateur categories in particular have show increased participation as have many of the masters categories. It is quite common for parents to watch their junior age children race and then enter their their own races later in the day.

We hope to see you at the races.
