Wahoo Releases Updates To Its KICKR Trainers

Wahoo recently released updates to its KICKR Trainers, just in time for indoor riding. Known for providing some of the best options for indoor cycling, Wahoo has updated two of its models as winter approaches. Curious about the benefits of riding indoors during the winter? Check out this post for more information.

KICKR BIKE PRO Smart Bike

Wahoo offers two models of KICKR Bike indoor bicycles: the KICKR BIKE PRO Smart Bike and the KICKR BIKE SHIFT. Both models are highly adjustable, allowing you to customize them to replicate your actual outdoor riding position, unlike Peloton or similar workout tools.

While the KICKR BIKE SHIFT remains unchanged, the KICKR BIKE PRO Smart Bike has seen several upgrades. Notably, the shift levers now feature integrated controls, enabling you to adjust the app you’re using without taking your hands off the handlebars. Additionally, the new touch points on the bikes include F’izi:k bartape and the F’izi:k Aliante R5 saddle, adding comfort for the rider. Finally, the redesigned adjustment levers make it easier for multiple riders to customize the bike to their preferred settings.

KICKR Core 2

TThe KICKR Core 2 is Wahoo’s most affordable direct drive trainer. Since it utilizes the rider’s own bike, training occurs in the same position as outdoor riding, allowing the rider to improve their technique.

The updates to the KICKR Core 2 focus on enhancing communication between the trainer and the app being used. By upgrading to WiFi, the trainer automatically updates through the Wahoo app. This upgrade also transfers data from heart rate monitors and other devices via the trainer, which reduces interference.

Additionally, this update includes Race Mode, which enables data to transfer ten times faster than the previous model. Faster data transfer decreases any “lag” between the input from the rider and the avatar in the app. Race Mode is available on other models in the Wahoo lineup.

The KICKR Core 2 is available with either a traditional cassette or the Zwift “Cog and Click” system. The Zwift “Cog and Click” is a device that utilizes a single rear cog instead of a multi-speed cassette. The Zwift software simulates 24 gears that the rider controls through the Click controls mounted on the handlebars. This allows households with multiple bicycles, each with a different drivetrain, to share a single trainer. Something to keep in mind is that the Zwift “Cog and Click” currently only works with the Zwift or Rouvy apps.
