New Bike Brands at Fit Werx
The Bicycle Brands That Fit Werx Carries
In February 2019, we published a blog post about the bicycle brands we offered. Little did we know that just a year later, COVID-19 would disrupt the world. Now that the inventory situation surrounding COVID has stabilized, it’s a perfect time to revisit the brands we carry.
What Changed at Fit Werx During Covid?
One constant in our approach is our belief in a Rider First, Rider Matched Philosophy. A bike should be tailored to fit the rider. To support this, we maintain a bit of inventory for display, but each bike we sell is ordered and built to suit the individual rider. This approach ensures that there is no pressure to sell what we have (pressure every other bike shop and internet sales model has) instead of what provides the best fit for each individual.
The best bicycle fittings are an in-person interaction. During the pandemic, for a short spell, this was simply not possible and fittings turned more into consults with remote conversations and video analysis. This wasn’t ideal, but it was the reality of the moment. Once COVID was better understood and controlled (and the government allowed), we resumed one-on-one, in-person fittings at our locations.
Brands changed a lot during the pandemic. Some brands, like Waterford, closed down. Others, such as Eriksen and Lauf, chose to convert to a direct sales-only approach. Additionally, in pursuit of maximizing short-term profits, brands like Specialized decided that their smaller dealers and those dealers unwilling to commit to buying large amounts of product in advance of selling it were no longer important. As a result, Fit Werx left the pandemic representing fewer bike brands than we started.
What Did We Do About This?
Almost 25 years ago, Fit Werx was the first to embrace a model designed to bridge the benefits of the best bike fit studios with the benefits of the best-equipped pro shops. When choosing the products Fit Werx represents, we have always been selective and insisted on feeling confident in the brands we worked with. Additionally, it’s important for us to have vendors who understand and support our business model. The pandemic made it clear that things can change on this front. Now that the pandemic is over and brands have settled more, we have spent the past year researching and surveying the options to select brands that offer our clients bikes that fit well across a variety of price points and are well supported by companies that understand and support a fit-based dealer model like Fit Werx.
With this in mind, we are proud to officially announce that over the past couple of seasons, we have added ENVE, OPEN, Argon 18, Orbea, and Bianchi to our bike offerings. We have also re-established relationships with brands like Factor and Intense. These brands provide strong mountain bike, ebike, road bike, gravel bike and tri bike options. They have significantly increased our model options and broadened the price range our bikes cover.
