Loss of a friend – Rich Angelo and the R11A 5K Run/Walk
Here's Rich pre-Swim at the USA Triathlon Nationals August 18, 2012
As many of you may know the Fit Werx family was hit hard by the drowning death of our friend Rich Angelo at USA Triathlon Nationals in Burlington, VT on August 18th. It was his Wedding Annivesary that day.
Rich’s goal was to qualify for 2013 Worlds in London and he was mentally and physically ready for this race. As you can imagine, his drowning was, and is, a devastating shock. The only solace we have is that Rich left is going for it.
On Sunday, November 11th at St. John’s Prep in Danvers, MA at 9:00 a.m. we invite you to participate in a 5K in Rich’s honor called the R11A 5K Run/Walk. Rich loved the number 11 and it’s our way of honoring him.
Why race? This tragedy could have happened to any of us. Although Rich was an outstanding athlete his entire life he was a better person. He gave back. He helped people. He was always positive. He was a husband and father. He was a friend.
If you would like to learn more about Rich and/or register for the event please visit: www.r11a5k.com
There will be cash prizes for Top 5 Males and Top 5 Females:
The race will benefit the “Rich Angelo Athletic Scholarship Fund” at Malden High School. Rich grew up in Malden and was well known in the community.
Rich used to say that "Greatness is not in never falling, but in rising after the fall”. On November 11 we rise together and honor a great man.
Thank you for your consideration,
