This fall Mavic introduced a new addition to the Cosmic Carbone line-up:  the Cosmic Carbone 40 Elite.  This wheel includes all of the technology of Cosmic Carbone series (a light weight foam core aero rim with exceptional braking in all weather conditions).   The only compromise is in the material used to construct the hub.  In the original CC 40 clincher, the hub is constructed using lighter weight carbon where the new Elite version includes a slightly heavier alloy hub.  Both versions include Mavic’s high quality sealed cartridge bearings but at $2,100 for a set, the CC40 Elite offers great value for a more price conscious rider and taken together with the free two year warranty, this wheelset is great deal.
