Fit Werx News – Late August 2014

News & Events –

Active Times Best Bike Shop in America – In 2013, you helped Fit Werx earn the number one bike shop in the country designation in an Active Times poll.  This was a great accomplishment for us.  Thank you again to everyone who voted for us last year.  The Active Times held their poll again in 2014.  While we were unable to retain our number one designation, we were voted to number nine in the entire country.  Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for us, we really appreciate your votes and support!

Fit Werx Named One of Top 10 Stages Power Meter Dealers Worldwide – Fit Werx is proud to be named one of the top ten Stages Power Meter dealers.  Due to their ease of installation, simplicity, lightweight and competitive cost, Stages Power Meters have proven to be one of the most popular power meter options over the past couple years – this is especially true for Shimano crank users.

Fit Werx was one of the first dealers to embrace power meters in general; many years later, Fit Werx was early to carry Stages. Over a decade after selling our first power meter, Fit Werx continues to carry power meters from the best brands in the business, including PowerTap, SRM, Quarq, Garmin, Stages and others.  We also recognize that you can buy a power meter from most any dealer.  The difference between Fit Werx and many dealers is that we make sure that we understand the differences between the systems and we are glad to help you select the best one for your needs. You can lean more about power meter options in our Tech Center pages on power meters.  Contact Marty in our MA location or Bruce in our VT location to learn more about power meters.

Green Mountain Stage Race (GMSR) – Just a heads up to sign up soon if you want to do the GMSR this year.  One of the most competitive stage races in the Northeast, the GMSR offers deep categorized fields as well as a great one-day citizen Gran Fondo race on the day of the Mad River Road Race.  Be sure ot check it out and stop-in our Waitsfield, VT location while you are up!

Team Fit Werx Charity Riders – A big thank you to everyone who is a part of Team Fit Werx and rode in some of the important charity rides that we sponsor and support this year!   Fit Werx related teams raised huge amounts of money for the Tour de Cure in the fight against diabetes and in one of the many rides to help fight Multiple Sclerosis.  In addition, we had teams at The Prouty to fight cancer in Hanover, NH and many Fit Werx fit riders were at the Harpoon Point-to-Point to benefit the VT Foodbank and the Long Trail Century to benefit VT Adaptive Sports as well.  As a sponsor of all these events, we are proud to see Fit Werx jerseys in the ride and supporting great causes while riding!  Coming up next, The Kelly Brush Ride to conquer paralysis through sport and a great “just for fun” ride in the Darn Tough.

Also, we sadly learned that a friend of the shop, who had been cancer free for 10 years, was recently re-diagnosed with Brain Cancer.  Six years ago Tom DeFosses started a cycling event, “A Reason to Ride”, to benefit cancer research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.  Tom is still determined to keep the ride going and we hope you will join us on September 7 in Danvers, MA.

Stay Tuned: Fit Werx is working on some big things to serve folks throughout the Northeast and beyond better than ever. Make sure to stay abreast of the latest via our Facebook page!

 Bikes & Components –

Hydraulic Disc Brakes – We have been delivering Shimano R785 hydraulic disc equipped bikes on models from Seven, Parlee and others.  The immediate feedback is that hydraulic disc brakes on road and gravel bikes are strong!  SRAM should be shipping their new and improved hydraulic disc brakes again starting this week as well.

Disc brake road/gravel bikes start right around $1000.  Trek is now offering some of their smooth riding Domane models with disc brakes (hydraulic and mechanical) and, as an added bonus, the Domane happens to offer the widest fit window of Trek’s road bike line.  Felt just announced multiple disc brake road specific bikes (not just CX bikes!) for ’15  and those are starting to ship in the next couple weeks. We look forward to seeing the lastest options and stop-in to see what the fuss is about.

Fit Werx offers cable and hydraulic actuated disc brake equipped production bikes from Felt and Trek and stock and customizable options from Seven, Moots, IF, Guru, Parlee and others.  If you have been fit at Fit Werx before, we have all your fit information on file to help make sure you find a new disc brake equipped road bike that is guaranteed to fit and work great for you.  You also have a credit you can apply towards that new bike available too!

Promo & Sale Items –

Shimano 105 11 Speed Bikes Now In-Stock –   Shimano has updated their dependable and high value 105 components from 10 speed to 11 speed and the latest 11 speed equipped 105 bikes have started to arrive (like the Cervelo R2 pictured).  This means that any remaining 10 speed bikes must go!  Very popular models, like Cervelo’s P2, are marked down!  Contact Fit Werx in MA or in VT to find out if we have a sale bike that will fit you well as the season is just getting started and you can enjoy all the benefits a new bike offers over the summer at a great price if you jump on the opportunity.

Late Summer Sale Continues!  Check out the latest in closeout bikes, wheels and components on our site 24/7.  ’15 models are starting to ship, so ’14 models must go!

We sound like a broken record, but remember that if you have been fit at Fit Werx, we keep your information on file so that we can help you find a great fitting bike when the time is right.  You also have a $100-$200 credit available towards a new bike from your fitting.  Every Fit Werx bike also includes our comprehensive Pro Build to your bike fit numbers – one of the best bike builds in the business – at no extra charge.  Our goal is to make sure you get a bike packed with true value.

Recently Heard at Fit Werx:

“I can’t say enough great things about my experience yesterday at Fit Werx- Geoff your suggestions were “game changers’! I am sure you have heard this so many times before – ‘Why didn’t I do this sooner?’…Thanks for my new born confidence in being on the road- you’re the game changer!” -Sara, Fit Werx in Peabody, MA

“So, I’m selling my Tarmac… (When it comes to my new Seven Evergreen SLX) The Enve 3.4 wheels are insanely fast, you just tuck and they keep accelerating – no pedaling required. The bike is faster than my Tarmac S-Works. With disc breaks you can scrub off all the speed those wheels built up – super confidence inspiring…The Seven with the Enve wheels is more stable with side wind gusts than the Tarmac too and you can ride the Seven all day long without your shoulders feeling beat from the Vermont roads.

My new Seven Evergreen SLX is my favorite bike ever and more importantly the best bike design for Vermont riding adventures.  Please thank Jim and Bruce.”  Matt, Fit Werx, VT
